About

Kasey BeckhamI’m Kasey Beckham, the writer behind The Homefront.

I am generally tired…but so happy to live every moment to the fullest that it’s worth the fatigue. I have several hats I wear: I’m a momma to two incredible kids (Grayson Luke will be four in August and Sarah Elizabeth was two in May), I’m a wife to Chris (which makes me a pastor’s wife!), and I’m a staff person (Associate Vice President for Kentucky) for the American Cancer Society.

We live on a small farm in Fleming County with lots of pets, including cats, horses, an ornery donkey, six goats, three sheep and a flock of crazy chickens. But I’ve lived all across Kentucky. I was born and raised in Carter County, but spent a good portion of my teenage and college years in western Kentucky (Graves and Livingston counties).

Not only am I a pastor’s wife, I’m also one of “those.” A pastor’s kid. Double whammy. Let me just say I was certain as a child that I wouldn’t be a pastor’s wife. But apparently the Lord had different plans, huh?

Being a wife, mother, and Christian is a blessing, and I was honored to begin filling this role already so beautifully done by my predecessor. I appreciate you all stopping by, and I hope we all get something out of this adventure.

But I’m warning you, my life is a zoo – in more ways than one – so this could be quite a ride!  Hold on to your hats!

About The Homefront

The Homefront was launched several years ago by the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s Leadership Development Team office as a place for ministers’ wives to gather for encouragement and connecting.  Our first blogger, Pam Cassady, got the blog off to a wonderful start and established Homefront as a good connecting place for ministers’ wives.  Kasey took the reigns in July 2010.

A few simple guidelines for participants:

  • If we are sharing concerns about certain people and situations in a church, please do not use names. God knows the people and he knows the situation. Be as general as possible. This is not a place for gossip, but a place for sharing, helping and healing.
  • This blog and the comments posted are there for anyone to read. Keep that in mind and realize that you might think you are anonymous but that doesn’t mean you are. Also, even if you are anonymous, you are still a Christian and we should make sure all we say reflects that very important aspect of our lives.
  • A good verse to keep in mind is Ephesians 4:29, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Sure, sometimes we just need to vent, but we must do it without sliding down into gossip, slander or malice.
